Established on September 2019, the La Joya ISD Police Department re-started the Junior Police Academy for La Joya ISD students. After high demand 10 high school students applied and were accepted to participate in the 2019-2020 school year to learn about law enforcement. Under the umbrella of the Boy's Scouts of America, students became the Explorer Post #1220 squad. Explorers will get hands on experience in: traffic stop, crime scene investigation, traffic accidents, handcuffing techniques, are just a few examples. Explorers also participate voluntarily in school and community events. Based on explorer requests, presenters have been involved to showcase their career work to our explorers.
